Office

The staff of the YMCA/YWCA Zurich is made up of the general managers Adrian Künsch-Wälchli & Anja Renz, 6 other employees filling around 4 full-time-equivalent positions, as well as interns from abroad or through JobPlus, the city of Zurich's employment aid agency. Apart from this, we are supported by around 250 volunteers.

Adrian Künsch-Wälchli
Co-General manager, 70%

Almost every day, I step into our club house, push open the massive entrance doors and wonder what will happen today. No two days are the same, and I embrace that. For the most part, these unforeseen encounters are at the core of our work: Encounters and relationships with people of all ages and walks of life.

What you might not see from the outside is how many hours we invest in relationships with all of the people around us, even if it's not within a defined offer or project. Big and small stories and encounters that happen between people, and can't be neatly summarised into an end-of-year review. Prayers and contacts that happen because of our faith in God and people, and because we try our best to live out our faith in charity. That's what thrills me about our work.

Anja Renz
Co-General Manager, 70 %

Since the beginning of May 2022, Anja has succeeeded Andrea Künsch-Wälchli as co-general manager alongside Adrian. She will introduce herself shortly...

Goodbye, Andrea Künsch-Wälchli!
A big thank-you to Andrea for her long-running commitment to the YMCA/YWCA Zurich. She has shaped our work through the course of the last decade and realised many important projects -- without her, the YMCA/YWCA Zurich wouldn't be what it is today! Now, she is moving on to new challenges. Thank you Andrea!

Felix Rechsteiner

Secretary, 75%

I've been connected to the YMCA/YWCA since I was little -- through Scouting and Ten Sing. I already worked for the YMCA/YWCA Zurich from 2004 - 2007. I'm fascinated by the things that are possible in the YMCA. Now, almost 15 years later, I'm back to working here at the office. I'm so thrilled to see what has grown in that time, and I'm looking forward to putting my talent for organisation to good use for the YMCA.

Jonas Wälchli
Youth worker in education, 60%

Since the beginning the work at Cevi Zürich has fascinated me. I like the variation, every day brings something new and is unlike any other. It's simply a wonderful place in the heart of Zürich.

Melanie Ineichen

Social deacon, 40%

Since the first grade, I've been closely involved with the YMCA/YWCA. My last internship for my education as a Social Deacon / Community Animation Worker was with the YMCA/YWCA Zurich, and I liked it here so much that I decided to stay longer-term. Today, my duties include coordinating our recurring events. I love working together with our volunteers, and the day-to-day life at the YMCA/YWCA Zurich, where there's something new happening every day.

Julia Möckli
Assistant manager and coordinator of Armenia partnership,  40%

In the middle of the hectic center of Zurich, we want to create an oasis where people can be accepted for who they are.

In Armenia, where we've had a partner YMCA for the past 15 years, they say that every guest is a gift from God. This is my conviction as well, and I always find it fascinating to see what people God sends to our house.

Martina Klee
Administrative manager of Gloggespiel, 30%

We don't just want to create a fun space for children to play and have a good time - we want to invest in parents as well. We want our actions to show people the love of God. I couldn't do my job without His love and wisdom.

Vanessa Zahnd
Intern, 100%

I already know working with people from the Cevi in Höngg and I enjoy it very much. At Cevi Zurich we have contact with different people every day, every encounter is unique. That's what makes the work here so interesting and exciting.

Tasha Lory
Administration, 10%

I've known the YMCA ever since I was a girl in Scouting, and I have many fond memories of that time. I love getting to see a different side of the YMCA's diverse work in the YMCA/YWCA Zurich, and being able to support them with my time.

Raoul Hottinger

Volunteer coordination and support, 60%

I love to work with people. I find it fascinating to hear news from all around the world, from different sources and to compare them. I also enjoy hiking and riding my bicycle.

Walking with Jesus for me means learning to let go of my caution and encounter people openly. It would be my pleasure to meet you

Maja Eskelund
EVS-volunteer, 100%

I come from Denmark and I am spending a year as an EVS-volunteer here in Switzerland by CEVI Zürich. When I read about this opportunity, I instantly knew that I wanted to be a part of this unique environment. At CEVI, I am looking forward to learning about life through new experiences and through interesting conversations. I am very curious and open as a person, and therefore I find it interesting to have the opportunity to learn the German language, because it unlocks a new understanding of the world and enables me to get a closer connection to the people around me.

Jill Krügel

Intern, 100%

I enjoy working with people, taking part in conversations and feeling that sense of community. I never cease to be amazed by the solidarity and mutual support in Cevi

Alina Grigorenko
EVS-Volunteer, 100 %

My name is Alina and I am 26 years old. I am from Russia, from a Siberian city Barnaul. I am very happy to have a chance to work at Cevi Zurich as a volunteer because the atmosphere here is so warm and everyone is extremely helpful and open. I have only been here for a week, but I have met so many friendly people already! I am looking forward to my EVS year at Cevi Zurich!
